About the Event
About
Scratching the Surface is an exhibition of textiles by Julie Ann McEwen.
Julie Ann McEwen is a Visual Artist from Mount Gambier South Australia. The mixed media and textile collage techniques used by Julie Ann result in the very textural and tactile quality in her art, with many layers of painted, dyed and printed cloth and paper, to reveal a visual story.
Julie Ann’s passion is mark making using hand stitch, hence ‘Scratching the Surface’ title for this Exhibition. “My passion for hand stitch exploits the rhythmic, repetitive mark which results in creating a tactile surface.” “My day is not complete, until needle, cloth or paper, and thread meet.”
Approximately two months each year on various field trips within Australia and overseas collecting material for new images.
Due to current advice on public gatherings, please contact the host of this event to confirm it is proceeding as planned.
