About

A History Event not to be missed with only 2 opportunities. Commencing at St Paul’s Lutheran Church guests will learn why Prussian immigrants escaped to South Australia. Then be guided on an informative walking tour to the Gething’s recently restored fachwerk Barn which is a 10min walk from the village. Gething’s distinctive fachwerk barn is one of Carl Faehrmann’s masterpieces. Roomy, with a threshing floor also used for bagging grain, the barn was built by a real craftsman, unlike the very early buildings of Hahndorf erected by families desperate for immediate shelter. Chris Hein local archeologist will speak about the architecture and changing faces of the barn and matriarch of Carol Paech of Beerenberg Family Farm will explain the restoration project and current useage and plans. We will then go to the Beerenberg Farm Shop for some tastings before returning to the village. This extended tour with special guests is part of South Australia's History Festival. Book for these dates and times identified as History Festival on our website. A generous discount voucher sheet is provided to eating houses and attractions in village. Spend the day or the weekend! Come and join us for a wonderful experience in Hahndorf. Due to current advice on public gatherings, please contact the host of this event to confirm it is proceeding as planned. Entry Cost Adult $35 - All adults are the same price. There is no concession on this occasion. Child $15 - 12 and under Family $90 - 2 Adults and 2 children under 12.
