Ngangaruku country lies along the lower Murray River near Murray Bridge immediately east of the Mount Lofty Ranges. It lies east of the Mount Lofty language Peramangk and south of the closely related Murray River language Ngayawang. It is also north of the Ngarrindjeri language. VARIATIONS Meru, Ná?urúku, Ngangaruku, Ngangurugu (used by AIATSIS), Nganguruku, Nkanguru.

Ngayawang is a Murray River language that lies at the bend in the river around Morgan. It lies north of the closely related language / dialect Ngangaruku and west of the other Murray River languages Ngawait, Yirawirung and Ngintait.
