2 Brunettes & a Blonde are 3 sisters who have each have been singing independently most of their lives, and are coming together for a special performance, just for Music @ the Hub.
Their repertoire will showcase each of their voices and include some well know songs.
Girls, if you enjoyed the movie musical Mama Mia, then bring your hairbrushes, hair dyrers or whatever you used to sing into, as 2 Brunettes and a Blonde feature one track from this movie and will have those adventurous to hit the dance floor to join in.
Sarah Calderwood and Paul Brandon are an acoustic duo that play a diverse mix of originals and cover songs with flair and panache. They cross the roads of roots and folk, wander through world music and Celtic and revisit modern songs with their own arrangements.
As one half of renowned bands Súnas and RedCrow, they have toured extensively in Australia and overseas, played at most folk and roots festivals and released five acclaimed albums. The last Súnas album and Sarah’s first solo record (both recorded for the ABC) charted in the ARIA classic/world/roots Top Ten, and receive worldwide airplay, while the debut RedCrow album was a finalist in the Australia Roots Music Awards 2017.
Sarah received an ARIA Award nomination for Best World Music Album, 2012.
Sarah has international recognition as a singer and front-person and is also one of the best traditional flute/whistle players in Australia. Her vocal style is incredibly varied and distinctive; from soft and intimate, rising to bold and striking. Her YouTube videos have been viewed over a million times, and she has also performed as a member of legendary Scots/Irish band, The Waterboys, at the Sydney Festival.
Paul has been played in bands for over 25 years. As a guitarist, he has performed in places ranging from the UK to Canada to Russia. He is also an accomplished bodhrán player, songwriter, session musician, photographer, and multi-award nominated author.
As a duo, Sarah and Paul have played in almost every environment, from small intimate venues such as cafes and weddings, right up to supporting Celtic Thunder in front of 15,000 people at the Boondall Entertainment Centre and the annual sold out Celtic Spectacular concerts at QPAC.
