A full weekend arts festival including sculptors, musicians, writers, numerous local and Tasmanian artists and artisans, held in the beautiful village of Ross. "Set In Stone" sculpture competition, with the Daniel Herbert Prize" a highlight. A demonstration of how to use the tools to carve stone will be held prior to the festival on Saturday 17 August at 10 am at Ross. Participants attend a masterclass on sculpting stone. They will buy a block of sandstone to take home and create their own masterpiece which will then go on display at the Festival. The masterclass is free and held at the Old Military Stables in Ross, at 10 am. Free event. Writers Forum - The Agony and the Ecstasy, presented by three published local authors. the theme is both the pain and the joy involved in the creation of a novel. Free event Strings in Spring Classical Ensemble held at the Uniting Church on top of the hill, by Camerata Obscura, and featuring at least two original pieces by Tasmanian composers. The Arts Market featuring artists and artisans from the Northern Midlands and beyond. Jewellers, wood craftspeople, painters, photographers, potters, writers, candlestick makers and many more.
